Aug 24, 2013 8:00am - 2:00pm

Hustle For Health

2013

Annual Campaign Kickoff featuring

4th annual "Hustle for Health" 10K/5K/1K Strut Your Mutt Fun Run

·         United Way of Grayson County’s needs assessment in 2009 showed that health and obesity were not just national issues, but local issues too. 3 out of 5 children are obese.  United Way of Grayson County thought we could bring awareness to this issue by hosting the Hustle for Health a family fun event at our annual kickoff.  Willy Kick-it will be live with music.

  • Running has been linked to the prevention of osteoporosis, diabetes and heart disease. It also burns more calories than other forms of cardiovascular exercise and is a bona fide mood booster. One of the great things about running is that anyone, no matter your skill level, is welcome.
  • Walkingis widely recommended for its health benefits. According to a recent U.S. Surgeon General report on physical activity and health in America, more than half of the U.S. population does not participate regularly in any type of exercise. That physical inactivity can lead to poor health.  It is increasingly obvious that one of the best ways to maintain good health is through physical activity.

·         United Way of Grayson County supports 19 community partners that provide 33 programs addressing Youth Services, Sustainability and Health(initiative)

·         United Way of Grayson County works with hundreds of volunteers throughout the year to help make the most of the money raised. Hustle for Health will take 100+ volunteers to make happen.

·         Thank you to all our community sponsors & CIGNA our Title sponsor.

When:

·         August 24th is just the kickoff, campaign runs through November.  If you would like to get involved call the United Way office.  903-893-1920
