Charles Evans Elementary Blood Drive Supports Hospitals - March 12
February 26, 2014 — Oklahoma Blood Institute (OBI) is partnering with Charles Evans Elementary to host a blood drive Wednesday, March 12, between noon and 3 p.m. With blood donors’ support, those in area hospitals won’t have to be concerned about the availability of blood.
By donating blood, donors can feel good about helping to save someone else’s life. Each blood donor at the drive will receive an OBI water bottle, free health screenings and Donor Rewards points. The water bottle can be given to the Charles Evans Elementary student who encouraged the donor to give blood.
Since there is no substitute for human blood, supplies must constantly be renewed. Oklahoma Blood Institute encourages anyone who is 16 and older* to donate and save a life.
Although all blood types are needed, those with O-negative type blood are especially encouraged to donate. According to AABB, those with O-negative blood make up only nine percent of the national population; however, O-negative blood can be used by anyone in urgent need.
Appointments are not necessary, but can be made by calling 877-340-8777 or visiting www.obi.org.
