There are many New Year traditions, and one that is popular around the world (at least in places with water near them), is the Polar Bear Plunge.
Some of the most popular Polar Bear Plunges in the US are in Seattle, Evergreen, Colorado, New York in Lake George, Boston, Milwaukee’s Bradford Beach, New Hampshire, New Jersey and Minnesota. Some of the Polar Plunges even do it to raise money for charities.
The biggest in the nation is actually held annually at Sandy Point State Park, and raises funds for the Special Olympics.
Some do the plunge just to wash off the previous year, and bring them luck for the New Year.
